Fight Scenes

Writers seem to either love or hate writing fight scenes. Written ones are not like movie ones. The tension comes from different places, the action…works differently.

For me, the hard ones are chase scenes. I like writing fights and battles. Which is good, because today I’m working on a complicated one in a multi-level bar for Riftworlds Online: Space Opera. Guns and hand-to-hand, swords and shields, jumping from level to level, as our hero and a fantasy knight are attacked by a group of space mercenaries.

There aren’t enough hours in the day for writing. So back to it…to battle!

[ETA: That came out to 2069 words of dramatic conflict. A fun mix of badassery against really bad odds.]
